DeWinton Community Centre is located 10 minutes south of Calgary in a beautiful countryside setting. This location can accommodate up to 180 guests for both wedding ceremony—either indoor or outdoor—and reception. It’s well suited to a romantic occasion that employs rustic charm or country elegance. Our catering suggestion? Consider a barbecue menu consisting of your choice of beef—select your preferred cut and size—and side dishes including garden salad, roasted potato, and home-style baked beans.
Westgate Community Hall has a warm and intimate feel with its wood vaulted ceiling and hardwood floors. However, it’s spacious enough to accommodate up to 150 guests. The Southwest Calgary hall lends itself well to any style of wedding reception but we think it would work really nicely for a vintage themed affair. The catering could easily reflect your chosen time period, with a sit down dinner of chicken cordon bleu working seamlessly with a mid-century motif.
Sundance Lodge lies east of the Macleod Trail on the manmade Sundance Lake in Southeast Calgary. The banquet room can host up to 160 people and comes with its own kitchen. Along with its beautiful lakeside setting, this location also boasts a lovely double-sided fireplace that would make it a fitting venue for a winter or fall themed wedding. The catering should reflect the season and either a buffet style or traditional sit down roast turkey dinner would lend warmth and cosiness to the occasion.
Devonian Gardens in downtown Calgary is the city’s only indoor park. It has several rental spaces well suited for weddings and wedding receptions. We especially love The Terrace for its elegant airiness and lush greenery, which would perfectly suit a sophisticated and polished occasion. We suggest catering that skips the traditional dinner and instead opting for a classy cocktail reception. Hors d’oeuvres passed around on silver trays and several unique food stations would be a fashionable and refined choice.
The Glenmore Sailing Club overlooks the beautiful Glenmore Reservoir. The clubhouse space is perfect for small wedding receptions and features a large deck overlooking the water as well as a round wood-burning fireplace in the banquet area. We love the idea of an intimate summer wedding at the club. Why not keep the theme and cuisine nautical? We suggest catering with a fresh-from-the-sea salmon filet dinner served with lemon dill sauce. The event and food are sure to receive rave reviews.
